![]() The long-running series has had some hits and misses with its less than stellar free-to-play spin-off and the poorly executed Renegade FPS series. ![]() Updated Jby Michael Llewellyn: Next to the original Dune, the Command & Conquer series is still regarded as one of the best RTS games of all time. They're the pinnacle of simplified wargaming on the PC and these games best represent the series and its roots. RELATED: Game Studios That Failed And What Their Best Game Was According To MetacriticĬommand & Conquer Remastered Collection is mostly good and ought to trigger some nostalgia, prompting a look back at the good old Command & Conquer games. Now, since the former has besmirched itself thanks to a botched remaster, it's up to the Command & Conquer series to show the world how it's done with their recent and decent remasters. Hope it works for you like it did for me.Back in the golden days of real-time strategy (RTS) games, two titles stood out from two big clashing studios one was Warcraft/Starcraft and the other was the Command & Conquer series. Type "mount d: d:\ -t cdrom", then type "mount c c:\TIME"(or where the game is). Now, we are going to want to MOUNT the drives we are going to use. The boosted speed will help to make the game run alot smoother and faster. First, type "config -set cpu cycles=25000". Follow these instructions to get the game working - Firstly, we will kinda boost the speed at which DosBOX will play the game. You should now see "Z:>", we will deal with that now. You should now be in DosBox, you will notice it's alot like the COMMAND PROMPT, the way it's set up. Go ahead and click the DosBOX icon (I think located on your desktop - mine is). STEP 5: Now you are going to want to bring DosBOX up. The game is installed (to C:\TIME or wherever you installed to) but ISN'T ready to be played YET. The COMMAND PROMPT should now be off your screen. Go back in the COMMAND PROMPT, you should see "D:\DOS" or just "D:\" and type in "exit". Follow the installation instructions, it should install the game to something like C:\TIME (that's where mine installed to). The installation for the game should now be on your screen. Next, type "cd DOS", this will now bring you to the DOS folder located on the TC disk. Now, with the Time Commando CD in your CDRom or DVD drive, while still in the COMMAND PROMPT, type in "D:", that will bring you to the D:\ where the disk is located. You should now see the COMMAND PROMPT on your screen. ![]() Now, you will need to open a COMMAND PROMPT within WindowsXP - Instructions on doing so - click on START menu, scroll up to ACCESSORIES, click on that, scroll down until you see COMMAND PROMPT, click on it. We are not going to use DosBOX.072 YET, but keep it handy. STEP 4: NEXT, this next step is very very important. Once it's been downloaded, install it to whatever directory on the harddrive it recommends. It can be found on the internet from a search like in Google. 072 has so far(knock on wood) worked like a charm for most of my Windows95 games. I don't know about any of the other versions of DosBOX, but. 072 is the version I have and works great. STEP 3: Next, you will NEED to download and install DosBOX. IMPORTANT!!! - DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT install the game yet, because we ARE NOT going to use the Windows installation. STEP 2: Insert your Time Commando PC game in the CD-ROM or DVD drive(whichever you are using). STEP 1: First off, you will HAVE to have WinXP Pro/Home installed. So let's get started with the basic tutorial. There are a couple ways I found out from trial and error to get it running but the way I found is very good, and actually not that difficult to do. You also don't need anything like the WinXP FIX patch I've seen on the internet, you also don't need any built in WinXP compatibility mode settings. I've been fiddling around with TC for a while now and finally got it working! You don't need to be a PC nerd or whatever to get this. Hey everyone, it looks like no one posted here in a while but I have a basic tutorial to getting Time Commando up and running under Windows XP Pro/Home and SP2(might even work with SP3 - not sure about that).
